To many people the name Herbert's has become synonymous with western boots and clothing. That's because we have been selling western apparel longer than most people can remember!
In 1958 Herbert and Ilse Elsner purchased a shoe repair shop in Alliston, Ontario. With the knowledge gained from his experience as a shoemaker in Germany, Herbert built up the business selling and repairing quality footwear, including western boots. The focus was always on quality products at fair prices, a philosophy that still exists today. In 1987 the business was taken over by their son Dieter and wife Cathy. Since then, the business has expanded to have Ontario's largest selection of western boots as well as an extensive collection of western apparel and hats.
The product line also includes a huge selection of safety boots and apparel, hiking boots, motorcycle boots, jackets and chaps, and sandals, including Birkenstock. With two locations only 25 minutes apart, you can be sure to find what you are looking for. Both locations are just an hour north of Toronto!
Today the family tradition carries on with Dieter and Cathy's children, Kurt, Karl and Erika, bringing fresh ideas to old fashion service.

Although we try to maintain a large selection in each store, not everything on the website is necessarily available in both stores all of the time. Some items may only be available in one location, or could be out of stock. If you are looking for a particular item, we recommend to call in advance to check stock before making a trip to one of our stores.
